The Republican National Convention kicks off Monday in Milwaukeestrike33, with delegates from around the country gathering to officially nominate Donald Trump for president in the wake of an attempt on his life over the weekend.
Trump’s nomination is a given, but there is still intrigue: How will Saturday’s shooting in Pennsylvania, which killed one attendee and grazed Trump, influence the convention? Who will Trump pick to be his running mate? And what kind of reception will Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis receive after trying to topple Trump?
Here is all you need to know about what to watch — and when and how — during the convention.
How to watch the RNC?The Republican National Convention will take place from July 15 to July 18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Major news networks such as CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and NBC will be covering the convention live.
The RNC will stream the event on YouTube, X, Facebook Live, Rumble, Amazon Prime, Twitch and Direct TV, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
What is on the calendar? You can find the Master Event Calendar at the RNC’s website. The activities that delegates will attend include breakfasts, luncheons, movies, trainings and official sessions. Organizations such as The Heritage Foundation, the Republican Jewish Coalition and the Hispanic Leadership Coalition will be hosting some of the events.
Trump’s nomination speech is expected on Thursday.
What is happening with Trump?Trump shared on Truth Social Sunday morning that he was looking forward “to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin.” He was expected to leave New Jersey for Milwaukee that afternoon.
When will Trump announce his running mate?Trump said Friday on the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show that he would like to announce his running mate during the convention.
“I’d love to do it during the convention ... or just slightly before the convention, like Monday. Love to do it on Tuesday or Wednesday actually,” he said, “but for a lot of complex reasons that you people understand, you pretty much don’t do that.”
On the shortlist are Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Ohio Sen. JD Vance and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum. Trump also mentioned South Carolina U.S. Sen. Tim Scott during the interview.
“It’s like a highly sophisticated version of ‘The Apprentice,’ if you think about it,” Trump said.
Who from Florida will be attending?Over the weekend, the RNC announced its headlining speakers, releasing a list that included a number of Florida officials.
Rubio will address the convention, as will Sen. Rick Scott. U.S. Reps. Matt Gaetz, Michael Waltz, Anna Paulina Luna, Byron Donalds and Brian Mast were also on the list.
Gov. Ron DeSantis will be in attendance and will have a speaking slot, according to the RNC. He will also be at a town hall hosted by Moms for Liberty and at the “Southern States Fest” being held at the Milwaukee Brewers’ stadium.
Other Florida officials expected at the RNC: Attorney General Ashley Moody, Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson and Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Florida will also be sending 125 delegates to the convention, including state Sens. Joe Gruters and Debbie Mayfield, and former Miami Congressman David Rivera. Among Trump’s children serving as delegates are Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Tiffany Boulos.
